The Watertown School District announces free breakfast and lunch for all students beginning October 1 and continuing through December or until federal funding runs out. Any enrolled student in K-12 is eligible for these meals. We have also changed our student close contact procedures. Beginning on October 5, if a student is masked, they would have the option of following the recommended 14-day close contact quarantine or choose to quarantine for 72 hours and come back to school masked, temp checked and socially distanced where permitted. School principals will notify you should this happen in your child's school. We are also changing the language with regards to masking from "highly recommended" to "expected." All students were given a mask to start the year, and we ask that you make sure your child has one with them each day. More details on the close contact procedures can be found at: https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/949702/Close_Contact_Student_Leave_Procedure.pdf. With this change, WHS will resume in-person classes on Mon. Oct. 5, and 7-12 activities will resume as well next week.

Hello Roosevelt Families! As we enter a week with colder weather, please remember to send coats, hats, and gloves with your child for recess times. Thank you!

Roosevelt families, we are excited to start school and glad you’re here! We have a few safety protocols in place that will look different than before for morning drop-off times and locations.
If possible, dropping your student off closer to 8:25 will reduce their exposure to other students. However, our doors will open at 7:30 if necessary.
If students are dropped off before 7:30, they will be outside and unsupervised.
7:30-8:00 - Students need to enter at Door C.
8:00-8:20 - Students enter through Door C if eating breakfast. Go straight to the playground if not eating breakfast.
Visitors (anyone who is not a Roosevelt Student or Staff) need to buzz in and wait to be screened and temp checked.
Parents need to have an appointment to enter.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Reminder; Roosevelt Open House is by appointment only on August 25th from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. We are excited to see you there! If you haven't signed up for a time slot, please see the links below to do so:

Since it is Thursday, I want to wrap up the school year with one last round of Thankful Thursday shout outs!
I’m so grateful for the Roosevelt parents and grandparents. The support you show our school and our staff is tremendous. From partnering with us as volunteers in the classroom, chaperones on field trips, or working together to help your child during parent-teacher meetings, I’m so thankful for your support. I’d be remiss if I didn’t especially thank Renae Greenfield, Laura Greenfield, Mandy Harris, and Jessica Bland for their leadership on our PTO committee! It was a joy partnering with you.
Next, I want to show some love to our staff here at Roosevelt. This is a group of educators that finds joy in the journey and are relentless in doing the right thing for our kids and families. The talent, intelligence, and passion for kids in the hearts of the educators here at Roosevelt are second to none. Words cannot capture how thankful I am for the opportunity to work along side this staff. Thank you!
Lastly, thank you students. I am so incredibly proud of our Rough Riders in this school. You have brought me such joy in my time getting to know you. From playing Gaga Ball and Kickball with you on the playground to some heart to heart conversations in the office, I’m proud of each of you as a learner that is capable of amazing things! Never forget how awesome each of you are and that I believe in you! Keep doing amazing things and keep demonstrating the Rough Rider Way!

Thank you!

PACH is participating in the Watertown Community Cares food distribution events. We will be distributing PACH bags to anyone that has school age children. All the participants need to do is let the volunteers working know that they have school age children and how many school age children in the family. The food distribution is open to anyone and students do not need to have registered with PACH previously. PACH bags will be distributed each week while supplies last. PACH will participate in the food distribution through the week of May 18th, 2020.
