Students and staff assembled on Friday, April 12th for our state, record setting fundraising trophy presentation. Julie Boerhave, South Dakota's Development Director of School Engagement for the American Heart Association, was in attendance to present the trophy for top fundraising school in the state of South Dakota. Jefferson Elementary raised $18, 716.28.

This day also celebrated the goal of having creme pies thrown into the faces of Mr. Heiser, Mr. Barrios, and Mr. Decker. Students received a ticket for every $50 earned. Over 375 pies were thrown.

Miss Julie commented:

I am so thankful for your school and both of you and the work that you did at your school to make a difference for your students, families, and community by making it a healthier and safer place to live with so many learning hands only CPR!

You had 78 Students complete Finn’s Mission, and 96 students/ families learn hands only CPR! Incredible!

The latest studies show that more than 50% of kids in this country aren't getting enough physical activity to be healthy. And nearly 1 in 5 kids is obese. That could lead to serious health problems as they get older.

By your school participating in Kids Heart Challenge, you are helping to change that. Students participating in the Kids Heart Challenge are having fun with exercise, so they’ll want to do more of it. They’re also learning about nutrition and their own hearts and helping children affected by heart conditions.

We ARE Proud of our staff, students, and families!
