WMS--We have started receiving phone calls regarding Drivers Education. Please be patient and stay tuned…a notification will be sent out through the school app on Monday, February 26th at 8:00a.m. with the details. There will be 180 slots available on a first come, first served basis. Reminder that participants must be 14 before September 30th, 2024.

WMS--On January 30th 8th graders at WMS will be taking part in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in Math and Reading. This data will allow us to compare our math and reading skills with those of students across the nation. This assessment will not affect any student's grades. WMS--Vision and hearing screenings will be administered to 7th-grade students on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. If you do not want your child to participate in the screening, please email the school nurse by Monday, November 27th. Her email address is Shana.Stone@k12.sd.us.
If your child does not pass any part of the screening, a referral letter will be mailed.

The Watertown Middle School will be hosting a FREE Girls Night for ALL girls in 7th and 8th Grade on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1ST from 4:30-9:00 pm at WMS. This year's theme: YOU CAN BE ANYTHING! (Barbie)
This empowerment event provides a safe environment for girls to discuss topics & participate in activities related specifically to teen girls.
The FREE night includes: Free T-shirt, selfies with friends in front of theme specific backgrounds, homemade meal, guest speaker Holly Hoffman from the TV show “Survivor”, tie dying, door prizes, dance party, baby animals, obstacle courses, hair styling and much more!
Register ONLINE on the WMS website. We are also looking for parent volunteers to chaperone, help with the group meal, and provide a door prize. If interested, please note on the Google form (Via SignUpGenus) when you register your daughter.

Don't forget to vote. A reminder that the Joint City/School election will be held at the Watertown Civic Arena on Tuesday, June 20 from 7 AM - 7 PM.
The Watertown School District will be conducting an emergency planning drill on Tuesday, May 30th in the morning from 8 AM – 12 PM. The district offices will be closed for the morning to the public. The public is asked to avoid the area of the high school as much as possible during these hours, as an influx of emergency responders will be present. We appreciate the cooperation of law enforcement and other first responders to assist the school district in it’s safety planning.
The Watertown Chamber will be hosting a candidate forum on Tuesday, May 30 at 6:00 PM in the DD Miller Auditorium at Watertown High School. Candidates for school board and city council will be present for this forum.
The public is invited to an Open House celebrating the 2023 retirees from the Watertown School District from 3:45-5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 17th in the Watertown High School Commons.
