The Watertown School District will be conducting an emergency planning drill on Tuesday, May 30th in the morning from 8 AM – 12 PM. The district offices will be closed for the morning to the public. The public is asked to avoid the area of the high school as much as possible during these hours, as an influx of emergency responders will be present. We appreciate the cooperation of law enforcement and other first responders to assist the school district in it’s safety planning.

The Watertown Chamber will be hosting a candidate forum on Tuesday, May 30 at 6:00 PM in the DD Miller Auditorium at Watertown High School. Candidates for school board and city council will be present for this forum.

WHS Graduation is Sunday, May 28th at 2PM in the Watertown Civic Arena, all are invited to attend. Graduation will also be lived stream, link can be found in previous notification below. Doors open at 1PM. Congrats to the Class of 2023.

Arrow Strength Program

The public is invited to an Open House celebrating the 2023 retirees from the Watertown School District from 3:45-5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 17th in the Watertown High School Commons.

WHS Senior Parents: Please remind your senior that Commencement Practice will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, at 11:30AM. We will begin in the Civic Arena. This is mandatory for all those seniors walking at Graduation.

This week students will be working on completing MAP assessments in the areas of reading, math and science. Students can take advantage of walk-in testing opportunities Monday through Thursday. The on Friday, May 19th , all students will report to their advisories at 2:00pm to complete any unfinished assessments. Once all assessments are verified completed, students will be dismissed from school at that time. If your student rides the after-school bus, they can wait in the student commons until school is out. "Protecting Your Child” Mental Health Series! Our hope is that you can come away with ideas on how to better manage your child’s technology use. Many children struggle with anxiety and loneliness without their phones; this could be a sign of addiction. Be aware and involved with your child’s phone usage so that you can help protect them from things such as cyberbullying and pornography. Remember that each child is different, so take time this week to connect and focus on the needs of each of your children. Additionally, make a plan to monitor their device, potentially using a third-party program, and set clear boundaries. MEDICATIONS IN THE NURSES OFFICE at WHS: By 12:30 on Friday, May 26th, a parent/guardian must pick up any unused medications from the Nurse's Office. Any unclaimed medications will be disposed of at the end of this day, May 26th.

Mental Health Series

A reminder to Watertown School District families that Friday, April 21st is a full day of school. The final day of school for students is Friday, May 26th with a 12:30 dismissal.

Kindergarten Round Up for all day, every day Kindergarten is for children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2023. Screenings will take place on Wednesday, April 12 and Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Garfield Education Center. Appointments are required, so please call 605-882-6398 today!

2 Hour Late Start Bell Schedule

The Watertown School District will start 2 hours late (10:15 AM) on Wednesday, April 5th. All morning activities and practices will also be 2 hours late. No breakfast served or AM preschool/JK. Conditions will be evaluated again in the morning.

There will be no school in Watertown on Friday, March 31. All activities are either postponed or cancelled.

The Watertown School Board is holding a special meeting on Monday, March 20th for the purpose of discussing our elementary schools. The meeting will take place at 5:30 PM in the Watertown High School Commons.

The plan for makeup snow days was approved at last night's Watertown School Board Meeting. That means school will start at 8:15 AM on Monday, March 20th and continue through the end of the school year on Friday, May 26th. School will dismiss 15 minutes later for the remainder of the year, so 3:35 for grades K-4 and 3:45 PM for grades 5-12. The rest of the information can be found at: https://5il.co/1qhjf.
